Today began foggy, with only a 1/16th mile of visibility. By the 10 A.M. observation we were seeing an impressive 65 miles. This is despite dew points climbing into the lower 70's!   Rain overnight totaled 1.18 inches. This brings the rain total on the month to 5.35 inches, 2.39 inches above normal. The annual total is boosted to 40.32 inches, 6.92 inches above the average total up to this calendar day. The summer (June-August) rainfall total has climbed to 19.66 inches, and this season will be among the top ten wettest summers on record. The final storm impacts at the Observatory from Tropical Storm Henri, which crossed southern New England yesterday as a post-tropical system, include a rainfall total of 1.96 inches of rain from early Sunday through Monday evening and a peak wind gust to 47 mph from the ESE at 1:31 PM EST on Sunday afternoon shortly after the storm made landfall in the south- western corner of Rhode Island before moving inland to our west. The high so far today is 84F, 5 degrees above the daily normal maximum of 79F.
