BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2020 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME COOL WEATHER CONTINUES FOLLOWING THE FRONTAL PASSAGE.... Today we experienced similar weather to yesterday, however cooler with clearer skies. The only obscurities are some fair weather cumulus clouds, and a chilly easterly wind. Conditions are dry, with dew points in the upper 20's and a humidity of 30% at the 1 P.M. observation. Visibility has reached 85 miles, and has been constant since 10 A.M.   Furthermore, it has been one week since we recorded our last measurable precipitation event. This brings us to exactly 4 inches below the annual normal. While this figure is not all too noteworthy, most other locations across the Bay State are seeing substantial deficits. Take for instance Logan Airport. They are currently at -8.16 inches below average on the year. Or, take Hanscom/Bedford, which is sitting at -11.45 inches. And, Chatham is nearing a 12 inch departure! As of yesterday, 7% of MA is now in an "Extreme Drought" - mainly focused along the Attleboro, Fall River, and New Bedford corridor. The rest of the state finds itself in a "Moderate" to "Severe" drought. The state drought monitor is updated every Thursday. -Drought section written by Andrew Swanson With the high pressure system from the north currently above the region, temperatures are much lower than seasonal averages.
