BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 2020 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME A RATHER PLEASANT DAY FOLLOWING YESTERDAY'S STORM SYSTEM.... Yesterday's storm brought heavy rainfall and very strong winds to the summit of Blue Hill. Of course the big story yesterday was the wind. A peak gust of 79 mph was measured officially, however some of other wind systems did clock winds over 80 mph, including the Aerovane (83 mph) and Davis Instruments (85 mph). The official gust of 79 mph did break the previous peak gust record for the day, which was 59 mph SSW in 1995. In addition to the big wind, heavy rainfall was measured with downpours occurring late in the afternoon and early evening. Storm total for the event was 1.42".   Today the weather is much more tame. A mix of sun and clouds have been the theme through the day with decreasing wind, near normal temperatures in the mid 50s, and excellent visibility of 60-70 miles. Our high temperature so far today is 56F, which is 1 degree above our daily normal high temperature of 55F. The low since midnight is 41F, which is 4 degrees above the daily normal low of 37F.
