Yesterday's daily departure of +10 degrees along with a second a warm second week of October have brought monthly temperatures back to near normal after a cooler than normal start to the month. Forecasts for the second half of this week indicate a return to cooler than normal temperatures may well be on the way. Rain showers that began this morning dropped 0.11 inches by the 7:00 AM EST observation, and an additional 0.15 inches by the 10:00 AM EST observation. By the 1:00 PM EST observation another 0.01 inches of new precipitation was recorded before rain ended just after 10:00 AM EST this morning. Skies were somewhat chaotic with cumulus, cumulus fractus, altocumulus and cirrocumulus covering most of the sky.
