BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY  MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, JANUARY 19, 2015 DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DAY     ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME 0.16 INCHES FALL ON GREAT BLUE HILL OVERNIGHT,  WINDS GUST TO 47 MPH FROM THE SE, DRY CONDITIONS FOR MLK JR DAY Heavy rain and some mixed precipitation just to our W  brought some significant totals to central and western Massachusetts; however, a mere 0.16 inches of rain  were recorded in our official standard gauge. The bulk of the precipitation fell between 9:00 PM EST and midnight, with otherwise traces of rain falling during showers earlier in the day. Yesterday's maximum temperature of 50F was well above our daily norm of 33F. By midnight last night, temperatures were still in the mid 40s, potentially bringing today's  high temperature.  By sunrise this morning, skies were mostly clear with the remnants of yesterday's front moving offshore. Layers of  altocumulus and stratocumulus have moved the region allowing for partly to mostly sunny conditions to prevail for most of today. Winds that were from the S to SE yesterday have swung around today to the W and have remained breezy, gusting into the lower 30 MPH range. A maximum temperature of 41F had been  recorded by the 1:00 PM EST observation. Today's Observations: 7 A.M.
