HEAVY RAIN FRIDAY LEAVES OVER TWO INCHES OF RAIN
WARMER AND MUCH DRIER TODAY
 
Rainfall yesterday began around 7AM, and continued for much of the day.  The
rain was heavy at times in the afternoon, and like many nearby locations
over two inches of rain were recorded at the summit, with 2.21 inches being
the final total.  This was not enough to break the daily rainfall record for
the date, which is 2.65 inches set in 1976.  The rainfall deficit for this
month has now been replaced by a surplus of over one inch.  The wind was
gusty at times out of the south yesterday, with a peak wind of 37mph just
after noon.  This was our highest wind gust in over a month.  The
temperature moved very little during the day, with a high of 73F and a low
of 69F.
 
The rain is gone today, as calm weather has returned.  The sky has been
partly cloudy throughout the day and the temperature has been climbing, up
to 80F by early afternoon, which is the average for the date, though it will
likely rise higher.  The wind has been a little lighter today, but has still
gusted over 25mph at times out of the W-NW.  This wind direction has helped
to dry the air out today, keeping the humidity low and making for a very
nice summer day.
