BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 2010 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME CALMER WINDS, COOLER CONDITIONS TODAY... 7-DAY WARM STREAK ENDING TODAY... Winds are much calmer compared to yesterday's 51 mph gust. Today, winds are generally 15-20 mph with occassional gusts of 20-25 mph. Yesterday ended a 7-day streak of warmer than average temperatures. That streak ends today, with a frosty morning low of 31F and a high of only 43F through 1PM. Today will end up at least a couple of degrees below average. The recent warmth has put the average temperature for November slightly on the warm side. It will be interesting to see whether or not the month ends as the 11th consecutive above average, or if it will break the warm streak and be the first below average month we have seen in a while. Looking ahead, forecast models are currently indicating a couple of significant cold air invasions for the region in the next 10 days or so. We'll have to wait and see if the model indications become truth, and if there will be enough cold air to push the average temperature for November back into the negative. Also, a few rain/snow showers were noted today to the distant northwest and north. Today's observations: 7 A.M.
