After a warm start to the month of May, a cold front moved through the region yesterday bringing cooler temperatures and a total of 0.63 inches of rain, including several thunderstorms. This was the most significant daily rainfall since April 9 when 1.12 inches fell. Additionally, yesterday's mean temperature of 54F equaled the normal, marking the first day at or below normal this month. Today, temperatures were well below normal and strong westerly winds brought blustery conditions to the summit. As of 2:00 P.M. EDT this afternoon, the maximum recorded temperature was 53F while the peak gust was measured to be 46 MPH from the west-southwest.
