BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2009 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME ANOTHER GLOOMY DAY WITH LOW CLOUDS AND FOG AND SOME LIGHT DRIZZLE AGAIN TODAY WARM NOVEMBER CONTINUES NOW RUNNING 4.6 DEGREES ABOVE THE 30-YEAR AVERAGE Low stratus clouds covered the summit for a second day today resulting in dense fog and visibility down to 1/16 mile. Periods of light drizzle have continued after briefly ending around noon yesterday. Additional precipitation has amounted to 0.11 inch through mid-morning for the 24 hours ending at 10 a.m. The three-day total has reached 0.39 inch. The warmth so far in November is holding us close to some high rankings for the month. Given the expected temps the rest of the month, BHO may end up among the top ten warmest Novembers and possibly among the top five for the warmest average minimum. The warmest average minimum for November is 40.7F in 2006, and this month is very close to this through the 24th at 41.0. The warmest monthly minimum temperature for any November is 28 set back in 1998. The next warmest is 27 in 1975 and 1983. The lowest so far this month has been 29 on the 7th, which would be a new record. There is a chance we could end up close to the record here.
