BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY TUESDAY, MAY 12, 2009  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   THUNDERSTORMS WITH SOME SMALL HAIL DEVELOPED OVER PARTS OF CT, RI, AND SE MASS. BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON   A line of towering cumulus clouds could been seen developing this morning to our distant south-southeast through south-southwest.  By early afternoon this cloud area became a line of cumulonimbus. More observations revealed a line of showers and thunderstorms had developed extending east-southeast from Connecticut, across Rhode Island to the southeastern portion of Massachusetts. The activity was moving to the east-southeast or to the southeast. There were reports of pea to dime size hail from the vicinity of Swansea, MA by 1 p.m.   A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southeastern CT.  Cold air aloft was resulting in the convective weather and  Mt.
