BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY TUESDAY, JANUARY 27, 2009  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   A COLD BUT A SUNNY JANUARY   As temperatures continue to average more than 5 degrees colder than average this month, a good number of very sunny days have pulled the total sunshine hours and minutes up to near 55% of possible or close to 10 points above the long-term average. We have continued to report 12 inches of snow on the ground for the past four days during over a week of below freezing weather with just two rather minor exceptions with highs of 36 and 39 degrees.      Today's observations: 7 A.M.
