BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2009 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   LONG SPELL OF PREVAILING WEST WINDS ENDS WARMER THAN NORMAL FEBRUARY CONTINUES   A total of 49 consecutive hours was logged with the wind blowing from the west ending last evening. The wind shifted into the west Sunday evening at 7 p.m. as rain was changing to snow and that same wind direction continued until 8 p.m. late yesterday. Monday, February 23rd, was our windiest day in over two months at 25.5 MPH. We recorded winds which frequently gusted past 40 MPH and over 50 MPH at times. Maximum hourly averages were not that unusual but reached 30 MPH for several hours.    The past two days have each averaged 5 degrees colder than normal but February continues to run a degree and one half above the 30-year average.    Today's observations:   7 A.M.
