BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2007    ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   MARKED WARMING TREND GETS UNDERWAY TODAY CONTINUED VERY SUNNY AND DRY CONDITIONS ONLY 50% OF NORMAL RAINFALL PAST 107 DAYS   After five straight days with sub-normal temperatures we've turned the corner with a strong warming trend starting today. After averaging 2.5 degrees warmer than normal through the first 14 days, September is now just 0.3 degree above the 30-year average. That is about to change as temperatures head back well above average during the coming days. As of yesterday we had recorded 70% of our possible bright sunshine--a very sunny month to date. Starting June 6 and continuing through today we have a total of 6.88 inches of rainfall. The normal for that 107 days period is at 13.81 inches so in the long term we still have just 50% of normal precipitation.    Today's observations:   7 A.M.   Weather: Obscurement with fog but clear sky occasionally visible overhead and sun occasionally dimly visible Temperature: 55F, Dew point: 55F, Wind: SSW at 10 kts Sea-level pressure: 30.19 inches Hg, rising Visibility: 0 miles    6-hour min temp: 53F 24-hour rainfall: 0.00 in BHO SA 1155 W1 X 0F 223/55/55/2110/019/ CLR SKY OCNL VSB OVHD SUN OCNL DMLY VSB/ 8//// 53002 10056 20053   10 A.M.   Weather: Clear, cirrus distant SSW   Temperature: 70F, Dew point: 57F, Wind: WSW @ 08 kts Wind: Variability S-WNW Sea-level pressure: 30.17 inches Hg, falling Visibility: 25 miles hazy, smoke layer W-N BHO SA 1455 CLR 25 218/70/57/2408/017/ CI DSNT SSW K LYR W-N HAZY WND 19V20/ 8/001 58005    1 P.M.   Weather: Clear, cirrus S-SW, smoke layer aloft NW-NE Temperature: 79F, Dew point: 56F, Wind: W @ 05 kts  Wind: light  Sea-level pressure: 30.13 inches Hg, falling Visibility: 35 miles, 25 miles NE light haze   6-hour max. temp: 79F  6-hour precip: 0.00 in.
