BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2007 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 93 TODAY FOLLOWS RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 92 ON FRIDAY...VERY DRY CONDITIONS CONTINUE... As of 2:30 PM EDT, the temperature has reached 93 degrees, which surpasses the previous record for the date of 91 set in 1945. This is one of the warmest temperatures this late in the season. Only a few times has the temperature climbed this high later than 9/8, once was 93 on 9/11/1983 with 93 also occurring on 9/23/1895 and 9/23/1914. The later readings are the latest 90+ temperatures on record, and one of these ended a three-day heat wave (91/90/93) back on September 21-23, 1895. Friday's high temperature of 92 broke the record for that date of 91 previously set in 1945. Only a few high thin cirrus and a few small cumulus are beginning to appear to the NW under full sunshine so far today, and the thick haze has keep the visibility in the 10-15 mile range. No rain so far this month has extended our dry spell with just 0.63 inch being measured since August 1. The period from August 1 to September 9 will be the driest on record if no more than 0.30 inch falls in showers expected later tonight or tomorrow. Today's observations: 7 A.M.
