MAXIMUM, INC Maestro 52 Merlin 51 WNW (evening) The strongest 2-minute sustained winds blew from the WNW at 30 to 31 MPH during the mid-evening around the time of the lowest pressure as the storm center was passing just east of Nantucket with a gust from the north there to 71 MPH. The final rainfall total there was 3.5 inches. Light rainfall began here at 8:45 EDT this morning and continued occasionally moderate through early this afternoon. A dry slot developed in the precipitation shield over eastern Mass during the afternoon which held down the rainfall amounts for at least a couple of hours. The heaviest rain for the storm began during the late afternoon and the greatest intensity of precipitation was the hour ending at 7 PM EDT when 0.16 inch accumulated. Our lowest barometer was not reached until evening when the reading bottomed out at 29.38 inches at 9:08 P.M. EDT The barometer fell rapidly during the afternoon, dropping 3.4 mb (0.10 inch) in the hour ending at 2 PM EDT and 8.8 mb (0.26 inch) in 3 hours ending at 5 PM EDT. Today's observations: 7 A.M.
