BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SUNDAY, JANUARY 28, 2007 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   LIGHT SNOW DURING EARLY MORNING HOURS LEAVES 0.6 INCH COLD SECOND HALF OF JANUARY CONTINUES...   Light snow which began around 1:30 a.m. and ended before 6 a.m. this morning deposited just over 1/2 inch of snowfall [0.6 inch]. This brings the January total to 1.9 inches or almost a foot less than normal and our seasonal total to a little less than six inches or about 22 inches below normal.   Below normal cold temperatures continue to chip away at what had been a huge surplus departure in temperature of over 10 degrees during the first half of January.  However, that continues to be steadily eroded away. The departure has now dropped to just over 5 degrees through 27 days. Eight out of the last ten days have been colder than normal; this comes after just one day was colder than the average during January's first half!   Today's observations:   7 A.M.   Weather: Overcast but clearing W-N approaching Temperature: 24F, Dew point: 22F, Wind: W at 10 kts Sea-level pressure: 29.65 inches Hg, rising Visibility: 8 miles, thin fog 6-hourly min. temp. 23 deg. 6-hourly precip: 0.04 in. 24-hourly snowfall: 0.6 in.
