LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS THIS MORNING... Friday was the coldest day of the season to date with a high and low of 11 and -1, and it was the coldest day since a mean of 5 (high/lo of 12/-3) was recorded on 21 January 2005. The high for Friday of 11 is a new record low maximum for the date breaking the previous record of 12 set in 1905, 1912, and 1945. Light snow was observed on the summit between 9:40 and 11:50 AM this morning, amounting to just a trace. The snowfall so far for January of 1.3 inches is among the lowest on record, and the seasonal snowfall of 5.0 inches would be the lowest for any season for the Oct-Jan period, if no additional snow is measured this month. The current lowest Oct-Jan snowfall is 6.5 inches in 1968-1969. Today's observations: 7 A.M.
