The mean temp. for the first 25 days this month is 49.0 for the 24 hour corrected mean. Only three Mays on our 120-year record have monthly means (for the entire month) below 50.0 degrees. They are 46.0 in 1917; 48.3 in 1907; and 49.8 in 1967. The fact that the temperature has only touched 70 degrees on one day this month is currently a NEW RECORD FOR MAY TO DATE. This May the high temperature is 70 on May 11, so just one day. The coldest May on record at 46.0 in 1917 had 74 on the 19th, 77 degrees on the 20th and 70 on the 31st. Our second coldest May in 1907 at 48.3 had 70 on the 10th; 80 on the 14th, 76 on the 18th. Our third coldest May in 1967 at 49.8 had 72 degrees on the 18th; 75 on the 19th, 76 on the 20th, 74 on the 28th, and 71 on the 30th. In terms of the coldest and most gloomy May it's 1917 with 46.0 degrees and 39% of the possible bright sunshine.
