BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY, MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FT. ABOVE MSL....10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA TUESDAY JULY 30, 2002 DAILY DISCUSSION... 7/30/2002.. 2 P.M. A new record maximum low temperature may be broken today as our low only reached 75 degrees this morning. The current record maximum low temperature is 74 set in 1949. The top story today at the Observatory is not the heat, rather the spectacular cloud cover that remains over our region this afternoon. As we observed the sky at 2 P.M., we noticed that there were 4 levels of clouds in the sky! Most noticeably, we could see altocumulus chaotic. The mercury continues to rise as our high so far today has reached 89 degrees. Dewpoints continue to remain in the lower to mid 70's, which make the air seem more uncomfortable that normal. Later in the week we can expect some relief, as temperatures and dewpoints may drop slightly. OBSERVATIONS FOR TODAY.....7/30/02 8 A.M.
