(please see discussion of March 5-7 nor'easter below) DAILY DISCUSSION....1 P.M. 3/15/2001 High cloudiness on the increase by noon after a sunny morning so only a partly sunny day. Our sunshine percentage for March to date is only 22% through fourteen days. There's only been one very sunny day and five days that have been completely cloudy. The normal sunshine percent for March is 48% on our 117-year record. Our record least sunny March occurred in 1951 with only 30% of the possible sunshine. More recently, just 35% of the possible sunshine was registered in March 1995. THOSE MARCH WINDS ARE BACK... Yesterday's peak gusts exceeded 50 MPH with the maximum gust of 57 MPH being recorded on Maximum, Inc. Maestro. Other gusts included: 53 MPH W on Aerovane, 53 MPH W on the NWS 420C dial, and 48 MPH W on ASOS. The peak gust occurred at 6:43 P.M. There's still 13 inches on the ground here at the summit....
