MODERATE SNOWFALL ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND FRIDAY EVENING INTO SATURDAY MORNING....brings 8.5 inches of new snow to the summit of Blue Hill. About 5-6 inches of this fell late Friday afternoon and evening, with another 3 inches or so on Saturday, ended at 10:45 AM. The snow depth on the summit at 7am this morning was up to 24 inches. This is the greatest snow depth since 27 inches were measures on April 2, 1997 after the April Fool's Day Blizzard of that year. The snow depth has dropped to 22 inches as of 1 PM this afternoon with the temperature rising to 35 degrees. Winds are starting to pick up as the storm departs into the Gulf on Maine with a peak gust so far of 46 mph NW at 11:53 AM. Aerovane has a gust to 49 mph and ASOS has a peak to 44 mph all at the same time. - MJI NEXT MEETING OF THE BLUE HILL OBSERVATORY... A meeting is currently being planned for April 12 with guest speaker Christine Clayburg, WHDH-TV weekend meteorologist. Time and location will be announced later.
