More rain is expected ahead of a slow moving cold front through tomorrow. Heavy rain showers are already occurring today to the W and SW. NEW OZONE MONITORING EQUIPMENT INSTALLED THIS WEEK...The EPA has installed an ozone monitor at the observatory that will eventually be part of a network of such instruments measuring air quality. This afternoon the instrument is measuring an ozone amount of about 35 ppb (parts per billion), which is considered good air quality. Readings of 50-100 are in the moderate range, while readings over 100 are considered unhealthy. Eventually these measurements will be available on the Internet. - MJI VOLUNTEER WEEK-END TOUR GUIDES NEEDED... We are having a training session for anyone wishing to come and help us do week-end public tours here at Blue Hill Observatory. The date is Saturday, July 14, 2001, right here at the Observatory. The training will be done in conjunction with actual public tours which will be going on that day. We pay you a mileage re-imbursement of 30 cents per mile.
