July 2001 may just make it as our 3rd sunniest July on record... thru 7/30 we have recorded 71% of the possible bright sunshine Normal for the month is 57%. Mean temp. for month within 0.3 degree of the cool July of one year ago which was 3rd coolest in past 64 years.... There were only 8 days with mean temps. averaging above normal... A record low temperature of 50 degrees was equaled on the 27th... There were no heat waves at Blue Hill...but two consecutive days did reach 90 degrees with 92 on the 24th and 93 on the 25th... Rainfall well below normal at 2.16 inches...normal is 3.49 inches... So, that's an inch and one third drier than normal. Will we get any more rain during July....CB tops can be seen looming to the distant north early this afternoon....they may be moving slowly southward...
