FINAL SNOWFALL TOTAL FOR WEEK-END STORM 8.5 INCHES....0.85 MELTED AMOUNT... 7 INCHES REMAINING ON THE GROUND THIS MORNING... The first significant snowfall of the season brought 8.5 inches to the summit and 4 to 5 inches to the communities below the hill including Milton and Canton and Randolph. A mixture to snow and rain developed there for a short time near the end of the storm but precipitation remained all snow at the Observatory. Yesterday was the first day to average colder than normal since November 20th. A departure of minus 2 degrees was recorded for Sunday. However, December continues to average very mild with a total temperature departure of +122 degrees and this means that so far the month is averaging more than 13 degrees warmer than normal daily. Temperature are headed back above normal starting today. Our morning low was a frosty 27 degrees here at the summit while a low of 14 degrees was recorded at Norwood Airport.
