 | On August 8th Tamara Shapiro Ledley spoke at Blue Hill Observatory about what solar eclipses are, the different kinds, how they come about, and how they differ from lunar eclipses. She then traveled to Cody, Wyoming to view and photograph the eclipse and we share her pictures with you here. Thanks Tamara! | About Dr. Tamara Shapiro Ledley: She received her PhD from MIT in atmospheric science and her BS from the University of Maryland in astronomy. She started her career leading a scientific research program on climate change focused on the polar regions. She was also an astronaut semifinalist in 1989. She is currently an Advanced Leadership Initiative Fellow at Harvard University. Prior to that she chaired the Center for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Teaching and Learning at TERC in Cambridge. The August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse was her 9th. |
