At Blue Hill Observatory we have recorded and investigated weather patterns and the climate for over 134 years.

It is safe to say we LOVE climate science as a source for scientific discovery!

As weather extremes have become more catastrophic our extensive and ongoing recording of the weather has gained global importance to a broad scientific community including the general public.

People around the world want to understand what is happening with the weather
and the atmosphere.

As BHO is uniquely positioned to facilitate critical research and a dialogue with key stakeholders and the public about climate sciencewe intend to take the lead!

Our Leadership Role
  • Presenter: Climate Science” & “Charles Brooks AMS and BHO,” at the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) meeting in Boston—represents the largest global conference for the weather, water, and climate community
  • Host of the Annual Southern New England Weather Conference—attended by 200+ scientists/weather enthusiasts
  • Cohost 2nd Annual Northeast Weather Summit at Wachusett Mountain
  • Ongoing global research engagement due to our recognition as one of seven Centennial Observing Stations in North America by the World Meteorological Organization.
  • Celebration of Blue Hill Observatory’s 135th Anniversary begins in Feb. 2020 with lectures, tours and special events
