BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SUNDAY, JULY 1, 2018   ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME HEAT CONTINUES ON TOP OF GREAT BLUE HILL... Today temperatures continue to be above normal with a max of 93F so far. This is already 14 degrees above the daily normal of 79F and 5 degrees below the daily record high temperatures of 98F set in 1964. The low  since midnight is 72F. If the temperatures does not drop below 72 before midnight this will tie the record for high minimum temperature originally set in 1968. A  distant haze lingered today obscuring visibility to  20 miles in the morning and 40 miles, once humidity dropped,  in the afternoon. Skies remained mostly sunny and cloud cover decreased throughout the day. The wind shifted today from SW to NW then became light and variable again today. June ended around seasonable for temperatures with the month beginning below normal and ending above. This is also the second month in a row with below normal rainfall. Although June was a drier than average month, we are still over 3 inches above normal for our annual rainfall.   PRELIMINARY STATS FOR JUNE 2018 TEMPERATURE, Deg. F Avg. Max. 75.1 [+0.1] Avg.
