BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY FRIDAY, AUGUST 24, 2018  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME TEMPERATURES QUICKLY RISE AFTER WIND SHIFTED FROM THE NORTHWEST TO THE SOUTH... The day began with below normal temperatures with an overnight minimum of 59F, this is 2 degrees below  the daily low minimum of 61F. Once the wind shifted mid-day temperatures quickly rose, and we recorded a maximum temperature so far of 81F, which is 3 degrees above the daily normal of 78F. Humidity has been low today making for dry comfortable air throughout the  day. The wind shifted around 10:00 A.M. today. The day began with wind coming from the NW and is now coming from the south. The wind was also light and variable right around the time the wind shifted and has remained on the lighter end but did increase  after the wind shift.  We had haze aloft in the area today mostly from the  smoke produced by fires in Western U.S. and Canada. Visibility decreased from 40 miles in the morning to 30 miles in the afternoon. The skies remained clear today with a few cumulus clouds developing in the afternoon.   Today's Observations: 7 A.M.
