NEARLY TWO INCHES MEASURED SINCE YESTERDAY... Rainfall that began on Friday afternoon became very heavy later in the evening during a period of thunder and lightning. Nearly an inch and a half of rain was measured in about 90 minutes between 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM EST on Friday. ASOS reports a 5-minute total of 0.24 inches ending at 9:32 PM EST and an inch in about 45 minutes ending at 9:35 PM EST. The 24-hour total ending at 7 AM this morning was 1.61 inches. Drizzle continued with periods of moderate and heavy rain this morning. An additional 0.22 inches was measured in the six hours ending at 1 PM EST giving a storm total of 1.83 inches. Winds were generally light overnight as the temperature remained in the 60s. A minimum sea-level pressure of about 29.18 inches occurred shortly after 1 PM EST. Additional showers are moving through the area this afternoon and wind speeds are increasing as the storm lifts away to the north. A peak wind gust of 33 mph from the WSW was observed at 3:58 PM EST. With the increasing winds the temperature has dropped into the middle 40s as of mid-afternoon. The monthly rainfall for October has now surpassed 5.70 inches, making this the wettest month of the year to date. 7 A.M.
