BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 2015 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME SNOW BEGINS EARLY THIS MORNING, 2.2 INCHES BY 10:00 AM EST, SNOWIEST SEASON ON RECORD NOW INCREASED TO 148.0 INCHES Following light rain showers that ended yesterday morning, Friday's hygrothermograph barely budged as it recorded temperatures from sunrise through midnight between 36-39F, with the maximum temperature coming at midnight yesterday morning at 41F. Snow began this morning at 3:39 AM EST, beginning very light until about 6:00 AM EST when snow began accumulating on snow already on the ground and some open patches of ground. Warmer temperatures have prevented significant accumulation on roadways through this morning. By this morning's 10:00 AM EST observation an additional 1.6 inches of snow were measured, bring our daily total up to 2.2 inches and our seasonal total to 148.0 inches, with light snow continuing to fall. Today's daily record snowfall amount is 3.0 inches, set back in 1932, which may be challenged depending on this afternoon's snowfall. Stay tuned to tomorrow's report to see how we fared.
