BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY  MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, MARCH 9, 2015    ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME MODERATING TEMPERATURES CONTINUE, TEMPS REACH LOWER 40S BY MID MORNING, 45F BY 1:00 PM EST Yesterday's maximum of 41F fell quickly with the setting sun, dropping below freezing by 8:00 PM EST. Following an overnight low temperature of 28F, temps climbed into the lower 40s by 9:00 AM EST this morning. Skies were generally clear, though hazy, with visibility reduced to just 35 miles during the morning hours.  Seasonal snowfall has now reached 143.4 inches, just 1.0 inch below the snowiest season on record set in 1995-1996. The snow depth has remained at 33 inches as of this morning based on measurements in the instrument enclosure and a survey in a nearby clearing to the north of the Observatory done Saturday.
