BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY  MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2015    ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME FLUFFY SNOW FALLS QUICKLY OVERNIGHT, BRINGS 3.9 INCHES, SHOWERS BRING 0.2 INCHES TODAY, BRINGS SEASONAL TOTAL TO 131.3 INCHES Dry, fluffy snow fell quickly starting just before midnight, falling moderately just thereafter. Snow depth at the 7:00 AM EST observation ticked up to 44 inches. Snow for the month of February is now up to 77.2 inches for the month, which increases the record for the snowiest month on record here in 130 years. Very light snow began again this morning at 11:17 AM EST with snow showers scattered throughout the region. Snow became steadier right around noon, before ending at 12:37 PM. By the 1:00 PM EST observation the summit of Great Blue Hill was in the clear but surrounded by snow showers in all directions. 0.2 inches of new snow was recorded at this time, along with a maximum temperature of 26F. Today will be the 25th consecutive day since January 26th with mean temperatures below normal, which is the longest such period in over a decade. Snow for the season now totals 131.3 inches, placing this season at Blue Hill firmly in third place on the list of snowiest seasons. February 2015 is also  the snowiest February on record, as well as the  snowiest month on record. This latest storm has also  made it onto the list of single greatest storm totals  in February and all time.
