BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY THURSDAY, MAY 29, 2014 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME FOG AND NEAR-RECORD COLD DEPART WITH SUN AND COOL TEMPERATURES TODAY Fog, drizzle and unseasonable cold were the major headlines yesterday for a day that seemed more March than May-like. The 24-hour maximum of 48F and minimum of 40F were the contributing factors making yesterday 17 degrees below the daily average 30 year norm. A morning low of 39F this morning would have tied the daily morning low for yesterday, however it could not beat today's record of 35F set back in 1902. Yesterday was also just 2 degrees above the daily record low maximum as well. Clear conditions have prevailed today with slightly cooler than average temperatures. Cirrus fibratus and cirrostratus fibratus have slowly filtered in from the west with generally clear visibility nearing 60 miles in most directions. By 1:00 PM EST a maximum of 61F had been reached.
