BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2014 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   AFTERNOON SHOWERS ON FRIDAY BREAK THE DRY SPELL, WITH SIGNIFICANT RAIN ON THE WAY LATER THIS WEEKEND   Wind and clouds were on the increase by yesterday afternoon with winds gusting to peak of 45 MPH from the SW by mid day. Beginning at approximately 1:50 PM EST rain began on the hill, falling off and on throughout the rest of the day and totaling a mere 0.06 inches. With only 1.06 of precipitation so far for the month of March, we are currently 3.99 inches below our 30 year norm. With significant rainfall on the way however, monthly totals a far from being set.   While the sun has peeked through thin layers of overcast for most of today, clouds have been on the increase once more with altocumulus lenticularis visible throughout most of the morning. Dew points have remained in the upper 30s for most of the day as well, with thin fog and haze limiting visibility in most directions throughout the morning.   By 1:00 PM EST rain showers were distant ESE-WSW of the station with a low stratus/nimbostratus layer beginning to overtake the sky. Visibility was reduced to 25 miles in most directions, with an exception of 50 miles to the W-NNW. A maximum of 53F had been reached so far as well.   Today's Observations:   7 A.M.
