BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY  MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, AUGUST 4, 2014   ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME FOGGY, HUMID START TRANSITIONS TO SUN AND CLOUDS WITH A WARMER START TO THE WEEK Yesterday's remarkably low wind speeds have a special place in our history now, with one of the lowest 24 hour average speeds seen in quite some time. Our midnight to midnight average of 3.9 MPH from the ENE was well below our historical station average. Our peak gust of just 10 knots, or 12 MPH from the SE was our lowest peak gust we could find on record  since 2001, along with the lowest fastest mile of just 8 MPH.  Today fog burned during the 7:00 AM EST observation revealing partly cloudy skies through most of the  morning. Small and moderate cumulus have mostly dominated the sky with very hazy conditions.  JULY 2014 PRELIMINARY STATS  TEMPERATURE [deg. F]   Av. Max. 80.8  Av.
