CLOUDY AND COOL WITH EAST WIND;
OCCASIONAL LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS BRING TRACE OF PRECIPITATION
 
Temperatures have been held in the low to mid 50s today with extensive
cloud cover and a steady east wind near 15 mph.  However, around noon
EDT today, a thinning of the overcast and a brief moment of sun did allow
the temperature to reach a high for the day of 56F.
 
Occasional light rain showers have been moving in off of the ocean today,
but have only provided a trace of precipitation thus far.
 
From the record books, today marks the earliest date in the autumn season
that a measurable snowfall has occurred.  Nearly 125 years ago on
October 9, 1888 0.2 inch of snow fell on the summit.
