BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2012  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   EARLY EVENING COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE LEAVES BEHIND 0.20 INCH RAIN COOL, DRY, AND OVERCAST BY AFTERNOON   A cold front passed through just after 6:00 PM EDT yesterday and left behind 0.20 inch of rainfall. Temperatures dropped 10 degrees in only one hour! The wind also shifted from SSW to WNW. A peak gust of 36 mph was recorded during the frontal passage. Some nearby towns even observed rumbles of thunder and some in cloud lightning.   Today, temperatures have been in the mid 50's with a low of 44F this morning, the coldest since May 11th. Altostratus clouds are advancing ahead of some expected showers later this afternoon and into tonight.
