BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2012 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME NEW DAILY RECORD HIGH MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 94F SET YESTERDAY LOW TEMPERATURE OF 74F YESTERDAY TIES DAILY RECORD LOW MAXIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE TODAY OF 92F IS 1 DEGREE SHY OF RECORD AS OF 2 P.M. Hot and humid conditions persist with temperatures in the low 90s this afternoon. A new daily record high maximum temperature of 94F was set yesterday, surpassing the old record of 92F set back in 1949. Our low of 74F yesterday tied the daily high minimum temperature set back in 1923. Today's daily high temperature record of 93F (1921) is also in jeopardy where temperatures are currently in the low 90s. Yesterday's average temperature finished 16 degrees above normal! Aside from this heat wave, the average temperature for the month is still about 3 degrees below normal. Aside from temperatures, it has been another hazy, hot and humid day here at the summit, with visibility down to only 25 miles. Dew points have been in the mid 60s for most of the day, although humidity values have dropped into the low to mid 40s with a partial southwest flow. This heat wave will come to an end this evening as a cold front currently over eastern New York will pass through the region tonight bringing thunderstorms and scattered showers. Following the passage of this cold front, temperatures will become more seasonable for this time of year. CURRENT RECORD HIGHS FOR BLUE HILL: 6/22 93F in 1921 Today's observations: 7 A.M.
