BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY FRIDAY, JULY 20, 2012  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   OVERCAST SKIES LEAD TO MUCH COOLER DAY FIRST COOLER THAN NORMAL DAY SINCE JUNE 27!   Today has been a much cooler day than we have been used to. The maximum temperature so far today is only 69F. The maximum temperature has not been this low since June 18th, where the maximum was only 68F. Today will also mark the first day since June 27th where the average daily temperature will finish below normal!   Overcast skies have remained over the summit for most of the day as a stationary front sits to our south but is moving offshore. There has been a nice display of mid level clouds today and some very subtle mammatus clouds were seen off to our SE, a very uncommon occurrence here at Blue Hill, and for most of the northeast for that matter. Winds have been relatively weak out of the east with a scent of ocean every now and then.   Off to our north we have a Canadian high moving down which will be our weather-maker for the weekend. This weekend will be very pleasant with temperatures in the upper 70's and lower 80's with lower humidity values and mostly sunny skies.     Today's observations:   7 A.M.
