BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2012 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME COLD TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT HAVE CAUSED A SKIM OF 9/10 ICE COVER TO FORM ON BOTH HOUGHTON'S AND PONKAPOAG The low temperature was 17F at Norwood Airport early this morning the cold temperatures and calm wind below an inversion (24F at the Observatory) overnight have allowed a nearly complete cover of thin ice to form on both our nearby ponds which had been open water. Our daily temperatures have averaged above normal now for just about two weeks or since February 13. The month continues close to 7 degrees warmer than normal. The total snowfall for February of 0.7 inch will be among the lowest totals ever recorded for the month.
