BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SUNDAY, AUGUST 26, 2012  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   ANOTHER FOGGY START TO THE MORNING DRY, WITH MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES AUGUST 2012 AMONG WARMEST ON RECORD   Today was another foggy start to the morning reducing visibility down to 1-1.5 miles below the summit. There was even some thin fog drifting over the summit. Since then, the fog burned off fairly quickly increasing visibility to about 40 miles. Today has been mostly sunny with a few scattered cumulus and cirrus clouds passing through the vicinity. Winds have been light and variable today. Humidity values have dropped tremendously since this morning as the fog burnt off. With an east wind overnight, there was even a nice scent of the ocean this morning.   Twenty-two of the first twenty-five days this month have been warmer than average, and August 2012 is now among the warmest on record with an average departure of more than three degrees per day. The corrected mean temperature for August through the 25th is 73.2 deg F.   Warmest Augusts (deg F), 1885-2011:   1) 72.5 in 1988 2) 72.3 in 2005 3) 72.1 in 2002 4) 72.0 in 2001   Today's observations:   7 A.M.
