BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 2012  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   AUGUST A VERY SUNNY MONTH TO DATE TEMPERATURES CONTINUE WELL ON THE WARM SIDE   BELOW AVERAGE WIND SPEEDS CONTINUE   Our sunshine recorded through the first 8 days of August shows this to be a very sunny month with 75% of the possible bright sunshine to date.  The record sunniest  August had 74% for the entire month in 1971.   August temperatures continue more than 5 degrees on the plus side of normal.  The warm weather trend has continued every month this year with the exception of June. Our high temperature today, like yesterday, has reached the upper 80's by early afternoon.  A weak sea breeze may hold the maximum reading slightly short of 90F.   The average August wind speed has once again fallen below 10 mph (uncorrected) as this calmer than average year 2012 continues.    Today's observations:   7 A.M.
