BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2011  ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   6.0 INCHES OF SNOW MEASURED AT SUMMIT THIS MORNING AS DAMAGING NOR'EASTER LIFTS NORTH LEAVING BLUE HILL OBSERVATORY WITH THREE NEW RECORDS   With 6.0 inches of snow measured at the summit this morning, this marks the first time on record of two 1-inch or more snowfalls in October at the Observatory. In addition, the October snowfall record of 6.8 inches has been exceeded by a monthly snowfall total of now 8.5 inches. Lastly, the daily snowfall total for October 29th has been broken but final measurements are still being determined. The total precipitation for the month is now over nine inches and is currently fourth highest on record for October.   Aside from the snowfall event, winds have been very gusty today out of the WNW with a peak gust of around 40 MPH thus far. Clouds have been present all day, as pieces of stratus fractus have passed over the summit this morning. A layer of cumulus has built its way in throughout the day. Humidity has dropped since this morning and temperatures have just hit above 40F within the past hour.   Tomorrow is supposed to be mostly clear as winds will calm overnight.
