BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2011 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME   HAZY CONDITIONS AND LIGHT FOG AT SUMMIT TODAY KEEP VISIBILITY DOWN TO 20 MILES TILL EARLY AFTERNOON   NOVEMBER CONTINUES TO RANK AMONG THE WARMEST ON RECORD...   A nice display of clouds was seen at the summit this morning much like yesterday as the sun was rising. Visibility has been down to only about 20 miles most of the day due to light distant fog and haze. An inversion was also present this morning with a defined smoke layer which has not dissipated. The light fog has lifted throughout the day but hazy conditions remain continuing to keep visibility down. High level clouds have built their way in since this morning keeping temperatures cooler than yesterday. Winds have been out of the south but calm. Above normal temperatures will continue through the end of the month, assuring us that this month will finish as one of the warmest in the last 125 years. Now it is just a matter of where in the rankings this month will finish. As this month nears an end, the beginning of December is looking more seasonable.   BLUE HILL WARMEST NOVEMBER AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE, 1885-2010 1)  55.8F 1975 2)  54.9F 1927 3)  54.8F 2001 4)  54.6F 1931         1941         2006 7)  54.5F 1948         1994 9)  54.0F 1979 10) 53.9F 1953         1999 The current November average maximum temperature is 56.1F   BLUE HILL WARMEST NOVEMBER AVERAGE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE, 1885-2010 1)  40.7F 2006         2009       3)  40.2F 1948        4)  40.1F 1975        5)  39.3F 1979 6)  38.4F 1931 7)  38.0F 1953 8)  37.9F 1963 9)  37.8F 2001 10) 37.6F 1999      The current November average minimum temperature is 39.5F   BLUE HILL WARMEST NOVEMBER CORRECTED MEAN TEMPERATURE, 1885-2010 1)  47.4F 1975 2)  47.1F 2006 3)  46.4F 2048         1979         2009 6)  46.0F 2001 7)  45.7F 1953         1999 9)  45.6F 1931 10) 45.5F 1994 The current November corrected mean temperature is 46.9F   Today's observations:   7 A.M.  Weather: Scattered altocumulus/altocumulus lenticularis, scattered lower dense cirrus distant NNE-SSE, clear overhead, contrails NE-S, inversion present with patches of ground fog below it, smoke layer below inversion W-NE, light distant fog all quadrants, steam fog over lake SSE, hazy Temperature: 44F, Dew point: 42F; Wind: SW at 6 kts Sea-level pressure: 30.21 inches Hg, rising Visibility: 20 miles, light distant fog, hazy 6-hour min. temp: 44F BHO SA 1155 SCT 110 SCT 220 20 231/44/42/2306/021/ CLR OVD FEW AC SSE-SSW FEW ACSL DSNT ALQDS FEW LWR DNS CI DSNT NNE-SSE CONTRAILS NE-S INVSN PRSNT ESTMTD TOP 3 HND OVR CTY N PTCHS LGT GF BLO INVSN K LYR BLO INVSN W-NE LGT DSNT FG ALQDS STEAM FG OVR LK SSE HAZY/ 8/042 53003 10053 20044   10 A.M.
