BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2011 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME INCREASING CLOUDS, TEMPERATURES NEAR NORMAL; JUNE ENDS UP WET, COOL OVERALL The sky was mostly clear this morning, but clouds have increased throughout the day. The added afternoon cloud cover is likely keeping temperatures in check a bit, but temperatures are running fairly close to normal. Winds continue from the west, and are on the light side, not moving much from a 6-12 mph range. The dew point has crept up to 60F today, but overall the air mass is quite comfortable. The month of June ended as an overall wet and cool month. As can be seen below, light winds were a theme for the month as well, with June 2011 landing in the number 3 spot as far as lightest average wind speed compared to other June's. Certainly the most notable occurrence in June was the discovery of the earliest ripe blueberry in Blue Hill Observatory history. Additional statistics are below, with further updates/additions expected in the coming days.
