Rainfall of 0.16 inch occurred late last night into early this morning. Also, as the front passed through the wind direction shifted from southerly to westerly, and the temperature dropped by about 6 degrees in an hour's time. With a west wind continuing today, a slightly drier air mass has entered the region with dew points in the mid 60s compared to 70-degree dew points yesterday. The 0.16 inch of rain overnight brings the total for August up to 6.38 inches. With heavy amounts of rain in the forecast from Irene, August 2011 is likely to enter into the top 10 wettest Augusts on record at Blue Hill.
