High pressure continued to build on Sunday, while winds have shifted
from the west to the north bringing a very cool and dry air mass into
the region. As a result, last night's overnight low of 43F was
the lowest recorded temperature since May 13. Temperatures have
remained well below normal throughout the day due to a near-overcast
sky dominated with low-level stratocumulus and a steady north-northeasterly
wind averaging roughly 10 MPH. As of 2:00 PM EDT, the maximum
recorded temperature was only 54F - nine degrees below normal.
