WEEKEND RAINFALL TOTAL 1.80 INCHES
WITH MUCH HIGHER TOTALS TO OUR SOUTHEAST
AUGUST STILL A DRIER THAN AVERAGE MONTH
 
The weekend rainfall which began late on
Friday accumulated to about 0.3 inch by
midnight (EST) with another 1.5 inches
falling during Saturday.  The greatest
hourly accumulations were between 0.15
and 0.19 inch during the late morning
and early afternoon.  Winds became gusty
from the NNW and NW-WNW late in the afternoon
and early evening reaching a peak gust of
35 MPH NW at 6:35 P.M. EDT.  Rainfall totals
between 2 and 4 inches were common in south-
eastern Massachusetts with maximum totals
of around 5 inches.  The month of August
will end up with 3.51 inches and be just
over a half inch drier than average.
