BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA   DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2008     ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME UNLESS NOTED    TROPICAL AIRMASS BEGAN ARRIVING OVERNIGHT AS REMNANTS OF HURRICANE IKE MOVED RAPIDLY NORTHEAST... RAINFALL EARLY YESTERDAY TOTALED 0.40 INCH   The remnants of Hurricane Ike which moved inland in Texas early Saturday morning moved rapidly northeastward through the Mississippi Valley, mid-West and eastern Great Lakes. The extratropical system joined up with an eastward moving cold front and was centered near Montreal, Canada, early today. While no rainfall here was associated with Ike, showers ahead of a tropical airmass brought 0.40 inch yesterday morning.  A tropical airmass moved north and northeastward on the eastern flank of the northward moving tropical/ extra-tropical system and temperatures actually rose here overnight from the upper 60's late yesterday to the low to mid-70's by dawn this morning along with summer-like dew points in the low 70's. South winds veering to southwest were gusting near 40 MPH early today. A peak gust to 45 MPH was recorded from the WSW later this morning.       Today's observations:   8 A.M.
