BLUE HILL METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY MILTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02186 ELEVATION 635 FEET, 10 MILES SSW OF BOSTON, MA DAILY DISCUSSION AND CLIMATE SUMMARY MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2008 ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN STANDARD TIME UNLESS NOTED SOUTHEASTER BROUGHT PERIOD OF HIGH WINDS AND BRIEF PERIOD OF HEAVY RAIN OVER WEEKEND BRING GUSTS NEAR 60 MPH AND ALMOST AN INCH OF RAIN OCTOBER CONTINUES TO BE A DRY MONTH A period of high winds and briefly heavy rainfall occurred late Saturday evening into early Sunday morning. The peak gust was 60 MPH from the SSE at 11:27 P.M. on October 25. The ASOS automated system recorded 62 MPH SSE at 11:30 P.M. Two hours had averaged wind speeds of 37 MPH, one late Saturday evening and another during early Sunday morning. Also, early Sunday, our Aerovane wind system recorded a gust to 60 MPH SSE at 3:13 A.M. EDT. The total rainfall was 0.88 inch with a maximum in two hours close to 0.60 inch in the period ending Sunday morning at 2:30 A.M. EDT. The event total brings the monthly total up to just over an inch and a half so October continues to be a dry month running more than two inches below normal. Today's observations: 8 A.M.
